Faire Child Certification - Bluesign®

What is Bluesign? Why is it important?

Faire Child Certification - Bluesign

Did you know that 25% of chemicals used worldwide are directly or indirectly used by the textile industry? These chemicals are present in things like dyes and finishes and are often released into local water systems.

This is where Bluesign comes in. This certification process looks at the entire life cycle of a product, including consumer safety, work place safety, the environment and resources used. Their aim is to work with companies to do more with fewer resources. Being a Bluesign Partner means you are constantly looking for ways to optimize the resources you use to reach savings not only fiscally but environmentally.

When a company partners with Bluesign they work together to create systems for being more responsible in 5 main areas: resource productivity, consumer safety, water emissions, air emissions and occupational health and safety.

The Sympatex fabric that Faire Child uses for our garments is Bluesign certified meaning it met all the strictest guidelines regarding their processes when it comes to the protection of the environment, health and safety in production. Sympatex also promotes textile developments which can be used again and again, which reduces their carbon footprint further.

So, in a nutshell, the Bluesign certification focuses on resources, people and the planet.

“As a result, the textile industry manages the natural resources soundly and responsibly, reduces water and air emissions, improves its waste water treatment and generally reduces its ecological footprint.”
