What is the main topic of the book?: This classic book by Robert McCloskey follows a mama and child and a mama bear and cub as they pick blueberries on the same hillside, preparing for the long winter ahead. The inside jacket features a beautiful illustration of mama and child in the kitchen working together to preserve blueberries for the winter ahead.

The sound effects are perfect as the pairs pick berries - ‘Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk!’ and the repetition will appeal to your child. Have you gone berry picking with your child?
